Why does CFP Board team up with nonprofit organizations?
CFP Board collaborates with professional associations, consumer groups and government agencies to educate the public about the importance of personal financial planning and choosing a competent, ethical financial planner. View a list of nonprofit organizations that CFP Board has worked with. Among the projects that have resulted from the joint efforts of CFP Board and nonprofits are: "Colorado Saves," a statewide savings campaign, which is part of a nationwide "America Saves" campaign spearheaded by the Consumer Federation of America; workplace education seminars about financial planning with the Social Security Administration; free consumer booklets about financial planning reviewed by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and distributed through the Federal Citizen Information Center; and outreach to high school students through student chapters of the Association of Latino Professionals in Finance and Accounting and the National Association of Black Accountants.

How can my nonprofit organization benefit from teaming up with CFP Board?
Nonprofit groups that work with CFP Board can take advantage of free materials and resources to educate their constituents about the importance of personal financial planning and working with a CFP® professional. These resources include a consumer eNewsletter, articles available for publication in a nonprofit's newsletter or Web site and access to CFP® certificants who have agreed to volunteer their time to speak to a group or help conduct a non-promotional program. These volunteers are screened by CFP Board and will not promote themselves, their companies or any product. In addition, CFP Board has developed Financial Planning Resource Kits, which are available free of charge (up to 100 kits) to nonprofit organizations that are intended to increase the financial awareness in consumers free of charge. What do consumers think of financial planners?
75% of consumers who responded to a CFP Board survey in 2004 said that it is "extremely important" for their financial advisers to adhere to a code of ethics, and 84% of consumers who use a CFP® certificant as their primary adviser reported being extremely or very satisfied.
